I go to a higher end salon in NYC and noticed the hair cutter take her tips out of the envelopes and put them in her pocket. I tip well and she wouldn't have known. I generally put her name and my name on it with a "thank you".

Yes, I'm sure they feel uncomfortable standing there counting it right in front of you.
